How To Update OS iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

Learn how to update OS your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to the latest version of iOS � wirelessly or using iTunes.


You can update your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to the latest iOS version wirelessly. If you can't see updates on your device, you can manually update using iTunes.



Before updating

Back up your device using iCloud or iTunes.

Update your device wirelessly

If an available update message appears, tap Install Now. You can also follow the steps below:

1. Plug the device into a power source and connect to the Internet with Wi-Fi

2. Tap Settings> General> Software Update.


3. Tap Download and Install. If the message requests that the application be temporarily deleted because iOS requires more space for updates, tap Continue or Cancel. Furthermore, iOS will reinstall the deleted application. If you tap Cancel, find out what to do next .

Update automatically
