Google, which is currently known as one of the most prominent technology companies in the world, finally released the latest series of one of their products, Android. The ninth series of the entire Android OS is named Pie.
What are the new features that users can find on Android Pie?
1. Smart reply from notification
Smart reply in Android Pie notification (Google), Google implements a rounded display in the Android Pie graphical interface, including in the quick settings and notification tray. the visual material design theme on Android Pie does add white space and rounded corners. the display settings also now display more colorful icons. for notifications, Android Pie is able to display content such as images from instant messaging applications, along with options to directly reply to conversations.
2. Editing screenshots
The screenshot editing option is displayed in the Android Pie notification panel after the captured image is taken. Android Pie still supports taking screenshots by holding down the power and volume buttons together. besides, there are new features for editing screenshots. after the screenshot is taken, Android Pie will display the "Edit" button in the screenshot preview. the editing options include crop, highlight, and drawing. This shortens the steps needed if the user wants to edit screenshot images before sharing them with others.
3. Digital wellbeing
To overcome the problem of smartphone addiction which is currently starting to become a common disease, through Android 9 Pie, Google introduced Digital Wellbeing. Through this new feature, Google ensures that smartphones are 'working' for users, not vice versa. to support it all, Google embed a number of features that allow users to manage their time in front of a smartphone screen. One of the most unique is the Android Dashboard, which helps users know how much time they spend in certain applications. besides, there is also Wind Down Mode, which can alert users to rest or sleep.
4. Lockdown
The Lockdown feature turns off the fingerprint scanner and asks the user to enter a PIN or pattern to unlock the device. there is a new security feature for extra security that is implemented in Android Pie, namely Lockdown mode that will lock the device, then deactivate the fingerprint scanner and voice unlock, and do not display notifications on the lock screen. The device will request a default key such as PIN or pattern. The way to do this is to open the Security and Location option in the Settings menu, then Lock Screen Preference, and activate Show lockdown. The option to do a Lockdown will then be displayed when the user presses the power button.
5. Gesture-based navigation
The small ellipse in the center of the screen is the home button. Other navigation relies on finger movements. bored with three default navigation buttons ala Android? Google provides an alternative to Android Pie, which is swiping gesture-based navigation. Swipe your finger to the right to run the "back" function, go left to change open applications, up to see "recent apps" or app drawer. a small ellipse button (on screen button) in the center of the screen functions like a physical home button to bring the user back to the home screen.
6. Key rotation
A special button above the screen of an Android Pie device to lock the screen orientation. some Android users may often be forced to flip through the device because the display suddenly changes the screen from portrait or vice versa, when the device changes orientation. different from the previous Android version which only provides "ON" and "OFF" options for automatic rotation, Android Pie can lock the display in a certain orientation. A special button in the top corner of the screen is used to activate this rotation lock.
7. Adaptive battery
The adaptive battery feature uses artificial intelligence (AI) to track the pattern of application usage by the user, including when they are used. applications that are often used will get priority resources and batteries to run in the background. the goal is nothing but to increase power efficiency and save battery life. and make it easier for users to review the remaining battery power indicators will be displayed at the bottom of the ambient display (always on display), as previously done by some Android manufacturers on the device.
8. Increased security and privacy
Unlike the previous series, Android 9 Pie is now equipped with a security system that is tighter than usual. especially on the encryption side, any activity that requires data encryption or decryption, currently only can be done through the user's smartphone (via pattern, PIN or password). besides, every time you connect to the internet network, Android 9 Pie will create a MAC address randomly for each network that is accessed. not only security, privacy systems are also very concerned by Google. Now, Android 9 Pie will limit access to microphones, cameras and sensors, when an application is not used or only runs in the background.
9. The search system is made smarter
As reported by TheVerge.com, the default search system from Google, is now made even smarter on Android 9 Pie. Now, instead of entering the application to do an activity, Android 9 Pie provides a name for its effectiveness with the presence of several 'activity shortcut' buttons on a number of applications. not only that, the App Drawer on Google Pie is also made smarter, by suggesting a number of applications or other activities that are assessed by the user.
10. Battery life is regulated by AI
Every time the latest version of Android is released, Google always makes every effort to optimize battery life. Well, on this Android Pie, Google started using AI as its newest solution. This new feature called Adaptive Battery, will immediately check what applications are rarely or often used. After, this feature will immediately limit excessive CPU usage for applications that are rarely used. Google claims that this new feature, can save battery up to 30%
